Overview of 2022 Honda Civic

With a more mature appearance, new capabilities, and a refined cabin design, Honda’s successful Civic compact vehicle gets a huge boost for the 2022 model year.
It earned a spot on our Editors’ Choice list as a result of the improvements and more. Honda insists that all-wheel drive is not part of the plan, hence a variety of four-cylinder engines are available, including a turbocharged 1.5-liter.
The Civic will be able to compete with the Hyundai Elantra, Mazda 3, and Toyota Corolla thanks to enhanced digital features like a larger infotainment screen, wireless mobile connection, and better driver-assistance features.2022 Honda Civic Overview | 2022 Honda Civic Review, Price, Picture, Engine, Interior

What’s New for Honda Civic 2022?

With a redesigned body and interior, the Civic is all-new for 2022. The 2022 Civic will be available in both sedan and hatchback variants, much as in the previous generation.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The EX trim level in the sedan variant, which includes a slew of extra features that easily justify the price increase, is our recommendation. Blind-spot monitoring, a power sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated exterior mirrors, and heated front seats are among the niceties available.
The 180-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine is also available as an option. We’d recommend you go with the EX-L hatchback, which has comparable amenities and comes with leather upholstery if you’re purchasing a hatchback.2022 Honda Civic Overview | 2022 Honda Civic Review, Price, Picture, Engine, Interior

Transmission, Engine, and Performance

Honda has chosen to keep the powertrain choices from the prior-generation Civic, even though it has altered everything else about the new Civic. The upgraded engine is still a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that now makes 180 horsepower, and base models come standard with a 158-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
Only a front-wheel-drive Civic is available. Sadly, for 2022, the previous generation Civic sedan’s manual gearbox has been removed, leaving just a continuously variable automatic gearbox (CVT) as an option; a six-speed manual is still available on the hatchback variant.
At our test track, our turbocharged Touring sedan needed 7.5 seconds to reach 60 mph, which is slightly slower than the last generation Civic’s result. The manual Sport Touring hatchback we tested did slightly better at 7.3 seconds to 60 mph.
Luckily, the spry handling, communicative steering, and well-balanced ride that we appreciated so much in the last generation model are present and accounted for here. Sporty Si and high-performance Type-R variants are also in the works and both will offer a manual transmission; we review those models separately.
Our turbocharged Touring car needed 7.5 seconds to reach 60 mph on our test track, which is a bit slower than the previous Civic’s performance. In terms of acceleration to 60 mph, the manual Sport Touring hatchback we tested did slightly better at 7.3 seconds.
Thankfully, the previous generation model’s spry handling, informative steering, and well-balanced ride are all present and accounted for in this model. Both the Sporty Si and high-performance Type-R models are being developed, with a manual gearbox available; we’ll review them individually.2022 Honda Civic Overview | 2022 Honda Civic Review, Price, Picture, Engine, Interior

Comfort, Interior, and Cargo

With clearer lines and a dashboard with a full-width honeycomb-patterned mesh design element that cleverly conceals the air vents, the 2022 Civic is expected to feature a more streamlined interior design.
The new model’s center console seems less crowded than the outgoing one, with a big, deep bin ahead of the gear lever for holding gadgets, keys, and road-tripping snacks. Honda claims that passenger volume is comparable to the Toyota, while the cargo area is larger.2022 Honda Civic Overview | 2022 Honda Civic Review, Price, Picture, Engine, Interior

Connectivity and Information

A 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display is standard on the 2022 Civic, however, a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen display, as well as a 10.2-inch digital gauge display, are both options.
When connected to the bigger of the two screens, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto both offer wireless connectivity. A wireless smartphone charging pad, in-dash navigation, and a Bose stereo system are among the other features.

Driver-Assistance Features and Safety

The new Civic’s crash-avoidance features will include an active front collision system, lane-departure sensing technology that works in tandem with standard adaptive cruise control, and a blind-spot warning system.
Assurance packages have also been upgraded to help keep drivers’ eyes on the road at all times. The Infiniti QX60 was one of many vehicles equipped with forwarding Collision Warning+, which uses radar sensors placed near the car’s front grille, as well.
The new Honda will also have the standard lane-keep assist feature of adaptive cruise control that warns drivers to change lanes or bring their cars to a stop if they drift off course by detecting the wheel…
As for technologies such as forward Collision Warning+, vehicle speed-dependent emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and rear cross-traffic alert (which can detect vehicular objects in front of the car at up to 70 mph), all are available as standard on the Civic.
The HN2021 has 8 airbags, including seats for four passengers, side-impact, and a curtain that rolls down to form a barrier in front of a blowout prevention system (BOS).
The vehicle is also equipped with an advanced restraint control system intended to prevent drivers from losing their balance or becoming distracted by the seat belt reminder notice before it alerts them about potential serious safety problems like too low tire pressure.2022 Honda Civic Overview | 2022 Honda Civic Review, Price, Picture, Engine, Interior

Maintenance and warranty

Although competitors like Elantra and Kia Forte provide better coverage, Honda’s standard warranty package is just fair. The Corolla offers complimentary scheduled maintenance, something the Civic does not.
Three years or 36,000 miles are covered under the warranty.
The Powertrain warranty covers 60,000 miles or five years.
